International House World Organisation (IHWO) is delighted to announce that two of their renowned teacher training courses will now be officially moderated by Cambridge English Language Assessment, from March 2014.
The courses this exciting development applies to are the IH Certificate in Advanced Methodology (IHCAM) and the IH Certificate in Teaching Young Learners and Teenagers (IHCYLT). Both of these courses are available online or face to face at International House schools around the world. As with all IH courses, they have been conceived, written and revised by expert trainers from the IH global network.
The IHCAM is an advanced course aimed at teachers with two or more years experience post CELTA (or equivalent) who are looking to further develop their teaching in terms of methodology and theoretical background. It offers a useful way stage for those teachers aiming for diploma-level qualifications and involves a completing a portfolio of assessment tasks and assignments.
The IHCYLT is ideal for qualified teachers of any level who wish to develop the specific skillset necessary to teach young learners and teenagers (4 to 16 year olds). This course has a compulsory practical element and is assessed by assignments, portfolio tasks and lesson observations. Some Ministries of Education have already recognised the course as a valuable qualification for primary language teachers.
These courses will now go through a double moderation process with Cambridge English Language Assessment, thus ensuring a global standard. This is an important achievement for the International House Assessment Unit, which has been in place since 2009, because the involvement of Cambridge English underlines the value of these unique courses and certificates.
The collaboration between two highly reputed organisations – International House with over 50 years’ experience in teacher training and Cambridge English, the most widely recognised examining board in the ELT industry – means that successful course participants will come away from the course with an even more widely recognised certificate.
