Adults returning to language study after a long gap often say the same thing: they do not want to sit in a classroom with eighteen-year-olds working through a coursebook. The Stay & Learn 50+ programme exists because that is a reasonable objection, and the answer is a different format rather than a slower version of the same one.

How it differs from a General English course

This is not a standard General English course. It uses themed English workshops — 15 hours a week — connected to a cultural and social programme, so the language work and the activities reinforce each other. Groups are planned at six to ten participants, smaller than the standard maximum of fifteen.

The three themes

  • Winter Getaway: Culture, Calm & Connection — a relaxed winter programme combining English, culture and social time.
  • Spring Escape: Awaken, Explore & Connect — built around language, exploration and connection.
  • Taste of Malta: Food, Wine & Conversation — using Malta’s food and traditions as the context for English.

Two ways to book

Course + Activities covers the workshops and the programme itself. Stay & Learn adds accommodation — a single room with a host family or a 3-star hotel, bed and breakfast, Sunday to Saturday. Both include course materials, the placement test, Welcome Pack, Student Card, certificate and report, both airport transfers and the administration fee.

Coming alone

Most participants do. A small international group with a shared daily schedule solves the problem that makes solo travel awkward, and the programme is designed around people meeting each other rather than around independent study.

Do you need good English?

A2 is recommended — enough to take part comfortably in a workshop and a conversation over dinner. It is a recommendation rather than a barrier, and your level is confirmed by the same online placement test used across the school.

The free weekly adult conversation class is not part of this programme, because it would clash with the activity schedule.
